Why did you start practicing yoga?

My original intention was to help heal and calm a back and neck injury. While my practice has helped tremendously with physical issues it has gone further than that. My practice has helped me grow stronger, more flexible and fearless, both on and off the mat. Yoga inspires me to live each moment more mindfully.

Describe what students can expect when they come to your classes?

I try to create an experience for class using music, aromatherapy, lighting and temperature that relaxes and inspires students. Anything that helps them feel more comfortable and at ease so that they can really commit to the present moment of their practice. Yoga is the relationship that is built between the body, the mind and the breath. Yoga is creating space free from obstacles in your own body to live. Yoga is freedom and release. I am here to help others find this release so that they can comfortable and competently move their bodies through life.

What's your style?

Yoga specific: I want to support first-time yogis to kick-off their yoga journeys through cultivating clarity, fascination, and confidence. I teach hatha style classes that are customizable for each person to make as challenging or as restorative as they want that day. My classes combine breath and movement using an authentic, non-judgmental teaching style, compassion-centered philosophy and always-new playlists.

Off the mat: comfy clothes, reading, fires – bonfires or in the fireplace, trips to Target and forgetting why I went but leaving with a cart full, friends, family, rescue pets, cooking, organizing, kids soccer and basketball games, and the occasional Pinterest fail

What would your final meal be if this was your last day on earth?

I love to cook, so I would ask a celebrity chef like Michael Simon or Bobby Flay to make me an amazing four-course meal.

What is your favorite song or artist and why?

I can’t pick one. I have so many favorites and I use a lot of them on my class playlists. I love everything from Van Morrison, Iron & Wine, to Lady Gaga and Justin Timberlake. Music can influence your mood so easily so I choose music that matches my mood or the mood I want to be in.

Who or what inspires you?

I am inspired by the energy of people around me. So I would say that community inspires me and I define that as family, friends and local community. I have met so many people who have inspired me by the way they conquer challenges and remain grounded and authentic through it all.

What is a quote you live by?

I can’t pick one. These are my absolute favorites, when I feel the world spinning I ground myself in these reminders.

"Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; for it becomes your destiny."

“You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.”—Unknown

“People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway.
What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway.
Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway.”
- Poem by Mother Teresa

What is one thing you couldn’t live without?

If you could live in a book, TV show or Movie, what would it be?

The Goldbergs, I was born in the 80’s and the family’s crazy life is so funny and relatable. I think I had some of the same outfits Erica wears. Can the scrunchie and banana clip make a comeback already?!

What animal best represents you and why?

Stumped on this one so I cheated and did a Facebook quiz. Here is what they said: An Elephant. You are the kind of person who needs their social life and family to be happy, but you are also wise and philosophical. You've got a memory that recalls everything, even the details that others may have allowed themselves to forget. In mind and body you are full of energy and spirit, but a calmness as well. And, if all that wasn't great enough, you've got a good head resting on your shoulders, filled with sharp intelligence and gentle compassion.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be and how would you use it?

Healing powers to heal diseases like cancer.
