Why did you start practicing yoga?
I was hoping to try something new and make some new friends when I signed up for a yoga class at Ohio University’s Rec Center, my freshman year of college.
Describe what students can expect when they come to your classes?
Students can always expect to have the opportunity to be present in their own bodies. We’ll quiet the mind and focus on the breath. No matter what the posture, or sequence of postures, expect to focus on your breath.
What’s your style?
I like to think of it as “sensation exploration”! Using Baron Baptiste inspired vinyasa flows, we come into our senses. We’ll see what we can feel, where we can feel it and maybe even find out why.
What would your final meal be if this was your last day on earth?
I think I could handle an entire keylime cheesecake on that day.
What is your favorite song or artist and why?
My favorite song is “Dormi”, a lullaby my Dad wrote for my sisters and I when we were young.
Who or what inspires you?
People who struggle but still give kindness freely.
What is a quote you live by?
Treat others the way you want to be treated. I’m not always perfect at this, but these are words that I was raised by and use as a compass when seeking direction.
What is one thing you couldn’t live without?
My kids. I can’t even begin to imagine what I would do, or where I would be without them. They are my greatest source of joy!
If you could live in a book, TV show or Movie, what would it be?
Little Women. I’d of course be Meg.
What animal best represents you and why?
Maybe a Rottweiler, like my sweet Ava. She has a fierce heart, and is loving and playful. She also loves pillows, just like her mom!
If you could have one superpower, what would it be and how would you use it?
I would love to fly. I think I’d put a friend on my back and travel the world!
