Sheri Csapo Yoga Pose

Sheri Csapo

Why did you start practicing yoga?

I began practicing yoga 16 years ago when my then hippie boyfriend took me to an Iyenger based class. My practice was sporadic at best but I really enjoyed the focus on alignment and breath that style of practice afforded me.

Describe what students can expect when they come to your classes?

When I teach a yoga class I want each student to be able to connect with some part of the practice. This is my one and only goal. From the smallest child to they oldest and wisest adult in the room; I hope to create a safe and enjoyable sanctuary for him or her to move the body, and possibly, the soul.

What’s your style?

Life Style: Laid Back, with my mind on the moment and the moment on my mind.

What would your final meal be if this was your last day on earth?

Big Grass fed locally raised Ribeye steak. Medium rare please. A salad with candied pecans, goat cheese and strawberries. Fried potatoes with an obscene amount of butter. ALL the watermelon I can eat for desert if there is any room left in my belly. And of course, a bourbon and homemade pinesyrup cocktail to top it off. Cheers to this fantastic life!

What is your favorite song or artist and why?

This is a fundamentally impossible question. Music is an integral part of my life, I'd likely be lost without it. I've no favorite song or artist. Music is my favorite art form and I appreciate all facets of this art.

Who or what inspires you?

I am constantly inspired by those I choose to keep closest to me. The inspiration for my practice comes from those women and men I practice with. Sharing knowledge and skill and appreciating each person for the gifts they are given and cultivate. This love, acceptance and appreciation inspires my practice and my way of life on a daily basis.

What is a quote you live by?

"To thine own self be true." -Shakespeare

(Totally taken out of context but, a true line, nonetheless).

What is one thing you couldn’t live without?

"Be like the fox who makes more tracks than necessary, some in the wrong direction. Practice *resurrection*." -Wendell Berry

---Resurrection and Hugs---

"We need 4 hugs a day for survival. We need 8 hugs a day for maintenance. We need 12 hugs a day for growth." -Virginia Satir

If you could live in a book, TV show or Movie, what would it be?

Right now, in my limited leisure time, I am reading Clan of the Cavebears. Oh to be a character in this book when evolution is diverging so rapidly and yet the "clan" is still in tact, working as a team for the greater good... it would be amazing to witness and/or live this experience.

What animal best represents you and why?

Snakes are not often loved by many, and nor do they care to be. They function with the seasons and with the weather. Shedding their skin when growth is upon them. Protecting themselves when needed. Sunning themselves when cold. Hunting and eating to sustain life. I would probably be a snake... constantly evolving and living on the earth. Or maybe a caterpillar/butterfly. Or maybe a golden Eagle. Or maybe...

If you could have one superpower, what would it be and how would you use it?

This is easy!! My super power would be PEACE! I would be able to cultivate peace in any circumstance, within myself. This peace would overflow to my kids and those I come in contact with. Ahhhhhhh... Now doesn't that feel good? Breathe in love, Breathe out peace. Continue on...
