Why did you start practicing yoga?

I started practicing in January of 2015.  A few weeks before that, I was at a holiday party that was raffling off tons of goodies.  One of the baskets was a yoga package that included a gift certificate to a local studio.  A good friend of mine had often talked to me about her love for yoga, so I decided to throw caution to the wind and put all my tickets in the yoga basket, even though at that time I was really into crossfit.  Luck (and the Universe!) was on my side because I won the basket, took my first class, and never looked back! I love how practicing yoga makes me feel physically, mentally, and spiritually while on and off my mat.

Describe what students can expect when they come to your classes?

A welcoming, loving space for all people and all bodies with an emphasis on accepting yourself as you are connecting to your true self.  I like to provide lots of variations of poses so that everyone can make yoga work for them.  I also love to help students discover different ways to use props to come more deeply into poses.  Expect to try something new, smile a lot, and have some fun! J

What’s your style?

Uplifting and positive; encouraging and nurturing.  You will rarely see me without a smile!

What would your final meal be if this was your last day on earth?

Tacos and Nachos- without a doubt!!!!!  And somehow I’ll figure out a way to make iced coffee work its way in there too. J

What is your favorite song or artist and why?

I really like all music, but I LOVE Lady Gaga.  Her music always finds ways to speak to me, whether it’s through a fun song to dance to and sing at the top of my lungs (alone in my car of course- LOL), or a song that tugs at my heart, I just adore it all.  Plus I love that she spreads a message of kindness and acceptance toward all people!

Who or what inspires you?

My family, my friends, and my students.

What is a quote you live by?

I have two! “I am not the mistakes that I have made” and “A flower doesn’t compete with the flower next to it, it just blooms.”

What is one thing you couldn’t live without?

Coffee…my family…my pup….I can’t pick just one.  But probably coffee….just kidding J

What animal best represents you and why?

Probably some kind of monkey- because I love to have fun and be silly!

If you could have one superpower, what would it be and how would you use it?

Teleportation!  I would use it to travel the world with my family…and to just get to places quicker in general!

If you could live in a book, TV show or Movie, what would it be?

I don’t think I could pick a specific one- but I would totally be up for turning my life into a musical like Glee!!!!
